West Genesee and Cicero-North Syracuse are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will head out to take on the Northstars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. West Genesee is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

On Thursday, West Genesee got the win against Auburn by a conclusive 13-4. Considering the Wildcats have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Cicero-North Syracuse entered their tilt with Auburn on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Maroons.

Landon Cook tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Jaden Zimmer and Christopher Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Zimmer went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Williams went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Petranchuk, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

West Genesee pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cicero-North Syracuse, their record now sits at 8-3.

West Genesee came up short against Cicero-North Syracuse in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 9-4. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
