Softball Game Preview: Churchland Truckers vs. Denbigh Patriots

The Churchland Truckers will square off against the Denbigh Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Churchland lost 13-3 to Granby on Friday. The Truckers haven't had much luck with the Comets recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Churchland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple was Thompson's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Denbigh fell victim to Menchville and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Monarchs, falling 11-0. The Patriots' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Churchland's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Denbigh, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.

Denbigh's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Churchland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for Denbigh, though, as they've only averaged .228. Will they be able to contain Churchland's hitters?

Churchland took their victory against Denbigh when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Truckers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
