Jacob Vaughn and James DeGroff secure win for Calvary Baptist Academy

The Calvary Baptist Academy Patriots had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bloomingdale on Tuesday and snuck past 44-41. The win was just what Calvary Baptist Academy needed coming off of a 65-35 loss in their prior matchup.

Leading Calvary Baptist Academy to victory were Jacob Vaughn and James DeGroff. Vaughn scored 16 points along with two steals, while DeGroff scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Vaughn scored 15 or more points.

Despite the loss, Bloomingdale still got an impressive performance from Dorian Reese, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Solomon Backus was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals and two blocks.

Calvary Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Bloomingdale, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary Baptist Academy will take on Parkersburg Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Parkersburg Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday. As for Bloomingdale, they will be playing at home against Ignite Athletics at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ignite Athletics is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
