Softball Game Preview: Port Barre Red Devils vs. False River Gators

The Port Barre Red Devils will take on the False River Gators at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Things were looking good for Port Barre after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Feliciana.

Ada Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Port Barre saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Brown, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, False River lost 16-6 to Livonia on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Gators have lost by exactly ten runs.

False River has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14-1 record this season. As for Port Barre, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Everything went Port Barre's way against False River in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, as Port Barre made off with a 12-1 victory. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
