Basketball Game Preview: Flowing Wells Caballeros vs. Desert View Jaguars

Flowing Wells is on a 15-game streak of home losses also dating back to last season, Desert View a 17-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. The Flowing Wells Caballeros will welcome the Desert View Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Flowing Wells came up short against Pueblo and fell 59-49.

Flowing Wells might have lost, but man, Jose Cureses was a machine: he posted 17 points along with eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Cureses a new career-high in rebounds. Isaias Encinas was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Even though they lost, Flowing Wells smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo only pulled down six offensive boards.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 84-49, which was the final score in Desert View's tilt against Buena on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Colts are ranked 62nd).

Flowing Wells' loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Desert View, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.

Flowing Wells strolled past Desert View in their previous matchup back in January of 2022 by a score of 63-47. Will Flowing Wells repeat their success, or does Desert View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
