Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only El Segundo walked away with it. They skirted past the Cypress Centurions 5-4. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on five straight.
Jacy Lindsay spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sienna Mayer, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February. Carter Cswaykus was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
El Segundo pushed their record up to 23-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Cypress, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-10.
Looking ahead, El Segundo will head out to challenge Notre Dame (SO) at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Cypress does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
