Volleyball Recap: Bridge City Triumphs

Bridge City won the last time they faced Splendora, and things went their way on Friday too. The Bridge City Cardinals came out on top in a nail-biter against the Splendora Wildcats , sneaking past 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

Bridge City wouldn't go down easily and took Splendora into a fifth set where they got it done with a 12-point win. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 15-3.

Anna Kelly paced Bridge City's offense, picking up 22 kills. Kelly got some help from Presley Ducote and her 21 assists. Ducote also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Makenna Knight, racking up three apiece.

Despite the defeat, Splendora saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Morgan Johnson had 14 digs. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted 14 or more digs the last 11 times she's played.

Bridge City is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 27-14 record this season. As for Splendora, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 23-11.
