Basketball Recap: Monument Academy Comes Up Short

Monument Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Pikes Peak Christian Eagles and fell 64-28. The Lynx were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-11.

Despite the defeat, Monument Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Gavin Pacheoco posted 14 points.

Pikes Peak Christian had a senior duo take command as Eddie Harmon made all 6 shots he took to post 12 points and Max Singler on his way to 11 points and three steals. Harmon also brought in his first shooting accuracy of the season. Another player making a difference was Austin Baker, who scored ten points and four steals.

Monument Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Pikes Peak Christian, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6.

Looking ahead, Monument Academy will face off against Denver Academy of Torah at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monument Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Pikes Peak Christian, they will challenge Liberty Tree Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Pikes Peak Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
