Basketball Recap: College Prep of America Takes a Loss

College Prep of America lost a heartbreaker to Shepard when they met back in November of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. The College Prep of America Thunder were dealt a 69-32 loss at the hands of the Shepard Astros. The Thunder have struggled against the Astros recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

College Prep of America's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Rayyan Sozzer, who posted eight points and four steals, and Hamzah Shouman, who put up seven points in addition to five assists and three steals.

College Prep of America's loss dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Shepard, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. College Prep of America won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Valeo Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shepard, they will be playing at home against Lockport at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lockport knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Shepard likes a good challenge.
