Softball Recap: Olean Sets Scoring Season-High Against Dunkirk

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Olean). They never let the Dunkirk Marauders get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Thursday. The Huskies have beaten the Marauders the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Marauders has come to flipping the script.

Emma Edwards was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Edwards was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Olean got a massive performance out of Ari Finch11, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Finch11 a new career-high. Anna Bates was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Olean hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Olean's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Dunkirk, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Olean will challenge rival Jamestown at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Dunkirk is set to take on their familiar foe Allegany-Limestone at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
