Soccer Game Preview: Worcester Academy vs. Loomis Chaffee School

The Worcester Academy Hilltoppers will head out to challenge the Loomis Chaffee School Pelicans at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Worcester Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Sunday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand St. Paul's a 4-0 shutout. Considering Worcester Academy's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Loomis Chaffee School earned a 2-0 victory over Berkshire School on Saturday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Loomis Chaffee School's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fourth in Connecticut, while Berkshire School are ranked 32nd in Massachusetts).

The win made it two in a row for Loomis Chaffee School and bumps their season record up to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matches. As for Worcester Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Worcester Academy suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Loomis Chaffee School when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Hilltoppers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
