Softball Preview: Mapletown Maples vs. McGuffey Highlanders
The Mapletown Maples will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the McGuffey Highlanders at 4:15 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After only two runs in their last matchup, Mapletown made sure to put some runs up on the board against California on Wednesday. Everything went Mapletown's way against California as Mapletown made off with a 15-5 victory.
Meanwhile, McGuffey faced South Allegheny in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. McGuffey sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over South Allegheny.
Katie Grimm was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Klages, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
The victory got Mapletown back to even at 2-2. As for McGuffey, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
