Basketball Game Preview: Walnut Grove Wildcats vs. Heritage Coyotes

The Walnut Grove Wildcats will challenge the Heritage Coyotes on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Walnut Grove sitting on seven straight wins and Heritage on 13.

Walnut Grove is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They took down Tyler 59-44. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Lions are ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Heritage took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 87-57 victory over Wakeland. The Coyotes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.

Heritage's win bumped their record up to 29-4. As for Walnut Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 28-9.

Walnut Grove was able to grind out a solid win over Heritage in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 64-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walnut Grove since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
