League recap: Union tops Watchung Hills Regional to extend winning streak

Mid-State 38 - Delaware recap November 19, 2013

Union extended the longest winning streak in Mid-State 38 - Delaware this week by beating Watchung Hills Regional, 28-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Farmers.

Elizabeth led the league in scoring this week after putting up 46 points on Columbia.

Hunterdon Central's dynamic duo of Michael Knight and Ryan Dunleavy proved to be unstoppable against Old Bridge, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Knight threw for 190 yards and 1 touchdown and Dunleavy had 99 yards receiving. Walt Wynkoop helped Hunterdon Central's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 55 yards.

Joe Maso provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Phillipsburg beat Scotch Plains-Fanwood. Maso's key target this week was Anthony Guarino, who caught 3 passes for 64 yards.

Maso was a beast in the backfield as the Stateliners topped the Raiders.

Hillsborough's Rob Nittolo and ANDREW ZITEL led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Nittolo has thrown for 2,336 yards this season, while ZITEL has 50 catches for 839 yards. Jamauri Bogan from Union leads the league in rushing with 1,350 yards.

Eugene Rawles has rushed for 999 yards on 186 carries so far this year.

The Red Devils made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,810 from 2,867. The advance stemmed from a 24-0 victory over the Knights last week.
