Willowbrook is a perfect 10-0 against Proviso East since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Willowbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Willowbrook took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Addison Trail by a score of 10-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Isabel Bates made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Bates was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Sonia Ruchala was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Aleena McNamara, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Willowbrook was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Proviso East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They came up short against Hinsdale South, falling 17-0.
Willowbrook pushed their record up to 14-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Proviso East, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.
Proviso East's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Willowbrook has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Proviso East, though, as they've only averaged .280. Will they be able to contain Willowbrook's hitters?
Willowbrook took their victory against Proviso East when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 19-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
