Football Recap: Live Oak's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

Live Oak lost against Santa Teresa back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Acorns took a 49-35 bruising from the Saints. The contest marked the Acorns' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Live Oak lost, don't look at Gage Jones. Despite the final result, he rushed for 234 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jones is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 161 every time he's taken the field this season. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Praise God Ofobuike, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Salvador Guerrero produced another solid effort throwing for 250 yards and six TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes for Santa Teresa. Prince Collins did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 77 receiving yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Live Oak fell to 5-1. As for Santa Teresa, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Meanwhile, Santa Teresa is set to face off against their familiar foe Leigh at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Jaylen Malcom and Blake Zanger.
