Volleyball Recap: Viewpoint's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Viewpoint unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westridge Tigers. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2015.

Sydney Erum was the offensive standout of the contest as she had five aces and three digs. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Jasmine Lee also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Viewpoint's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Westridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Viewpoint and Westridge could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Patriots (ranked 253rd) will meet Campbell Hall (ranked 114th) at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Westridge will face off against Polytechnic at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (380 vs. 89).
