Baseball Recap: Maize Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Maize, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let the Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders get on the board and left with a 4-0 win on Monday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jacob Doty tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Maize's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Zimmerman, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Maize's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kapaun Mt. Carmel, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-11-1.

Coming up, Maize will square off against Andover Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kapaun Mt. Carmel has already played their next matchup (against Southeast), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
