Baseball Game Preview: St. Laurence Vikings vs. Benet Academy Redwings

The St. Laurence Vikings will face off against the Benet Academy Redwings at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Laurence comes in on ten and Benet Academy on seven.

St. Laurence is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Triad by a score of 11-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their two-run performance the contest before.

St. Laurence got a great performance from Jimmy Benson as he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Marino, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Lotus, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Benet Academy beat Cary-Grove 11-6 on Friday.

Josh Gugora was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Quinn Rooney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

St. Laurence pushed their record up to 36-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Benet Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 26-12.
