Baseball Recap: Garden City Takes a Loss

Garden City lost against Hays back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Buffaloes lost 9-3 to the Indians. That's two games in a row now that the Buffaloes have lost by exactly six runs.

Jakobe Rathbun made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jonathan Almanza also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Garden City has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Hays, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Indians beat Garden City by a score of 9-5 later that day.
