Basketball Game Preview: Pasadena Memorial Mavericks vs. Pearland Oilers

Pasadena Memorial hasn't had much luck against Pearland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pasadena Memorial Mavericks will be home for the holidays to greet the Pearland Oilers at 5:00 p.m.

Pasadena Memorial is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Shadow Creek an easy 67-42 victory. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while the Sharks are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, Pearland waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victor by a 57-32 margin over the Longhorns.

Pearland is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points per game. As for Pasadena Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Pasadena Memorial lost to Pearland at home by a decisive 68-51 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2020. Can Pasadena Memorial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
