Baseball Recap: Marquette Has No Trouble Against Monticello

Marquette had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Monticello on Friday. The Defenders put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-3 victory. Considering the Defenders have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Marquette's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Monticello, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Marquette will host Prince of Peace Prep at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The Irish have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.81 runs per game on average), something the Defenders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Monticello, they will take on Lisbon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
