Softball Recap: Eastside Rams vs. Newberry Panthers
Sadly, Eastside is still looking for their first win of the season after eight contests. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 17-1 walloping at the hands of the Newberry Panthers on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, Eastside couldn't push the score so high this time.
Eastside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayla Lane, who went 1-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Leath, who scored a run and stole two bases.
On Newberry's side, the team relied heavily on Malana Kennard, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Sarah Priester, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Eastside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Newberry, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
