Soccer Game Preview: Venice vs. Fairfax

Venice and Fairfax are an even 4-4-2 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Venice Gondoliers will take on the Fairfax Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Venice is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.9 goals per game this season.

Venice is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering New West Charter just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Monday. Both finished up on equal footing with a 3-3 draw. The result kept the Gondoliers happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 23, 2024.

Anthony Morales and Zack Lev scored all three of Venice's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairfax). They were the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over Westchester on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Fairfax's win bumped their record up to 13-4-3. Venice's draw makes their record 12-5-1 this season.

Venice took their victory against Fairfax in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Venice since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
