Soccer Game Preview: Shadow Ridge vs. Arizona College Prep

The Shadow Ridge Stallions and the Arizona College Prep Knights will round out the year against one another at at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. Shadow Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season.

Shadow Ridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Brophy College Prep, who was ranked tenth at the time (Shadow Ridge was ranked seventh). Shadow Ridge fell just short of Brophy College Prep by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday.

Shadow Ridge's goal came courtesy of Jacob Engwall, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Arizona College Prep entered their tilt with Willow Canyon last Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Wildcats onto the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Knights' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matchups.

Arizona College Prep is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. As for Shadow Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2-2.

Shadow Ridge came out on top in a nail-biter against Arizona College Prep in their previous meeting on December 6th, sneaking past 1-0. Does Shadow Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Arizona College Prep turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
