While Lewis's win against Mount Vernon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lancers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Majors on Tuesday. Given Lewis' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Mount Vernon are ranked 200th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Damian Chacon and David Pereda-Ramos scored both of Lewis' goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Lewis' win bumped their record up to 5-3-2. As for Mount Vernon, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-6.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Lewis is set to square off against their familiar foe Annandale at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mount Vernon will take on rival Edison at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
