On Saturday, Unalakleet faced Nome-Beltz in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Unalakleet Wolfpack fell just short of the Nome-Beltz Nanooks by a score of 47-45. The Wolfpack's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Nome-Beltz got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Benny Lie out in front who posted 12 points. Alora Stasensko was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Unalakleet fell to 8-1. As for Nome-Beltz, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

While Unalakleet had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
