Basketball Recap: Viewmont Takes a Loss

Viewmont lost against Clearfield back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Viewmont Vikings were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to the Clearfield Falcons.

Viewmont's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mary Carr, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. Carr has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Gold, who posted eight points along with six boards and three steals.

Clearfield was led to victory by McKinlee Philpott and Brighton Bernards. Philpott went 6-for-7 to rack up 12 points, while Bernards scored eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Philpott a new career-high in points. Bailey Hoover was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

Viewmont's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Clearfield, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Viewmont nor Clearfield have any future games scheduled.
