Softball Recap: Strafford Has No Trouble Against Reeds Spring

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against El Dorado Springs, Strafford was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Reeds Spring Wolves as they made off with a 16-5 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-3 back in April.

Sarah Canales made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dalyce Scrivener, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kayliegh Lexa, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Strafford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.

Strafford's win bumped their record up to 13-18. As for Reeds Spring, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-13 record.

Strafford will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.
