Basketball Game Preview: Amherst County Lancers vs. Salem Spartans

The Amherst County Lancers will take on the Salem Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Amherst County comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Amherst County came up short against Jefferson Forest on Friday, falling 73-50.

Amherst County might have lost, but man, Franklin Moore was a machine: he almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Those 21 points gave Moore a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Levi Campbell, who posted eight points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Salem beat Pulaski County 73-64 on Friday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Cougars are ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Salem's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Amherst County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
