Football Recap: Tri Comes Up Short

If Tri was riding high fresh off their 49-0 takedown of Monroe Central last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Titans and the Centerville Bulldogs were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Titans suffered a 31-30 defeat. The loss continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Tri lost, don't look at Isaiah Dewitt. Despite the final result, he rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Dewitt also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making six total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Masyn Chalfant also helped with two scores in total.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Kain Knepley for the heroic effort on defense: he. Tri hasn't allowed more than 4.6 yards per carry in three consecutive matches.

Maddox Pritchett was his usual excellent self, picking up 105 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 58 yards and one touchdown for Centerville.

Tri's record now sits at 3-2. As for Centerville, their record is now 4-1.
