Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kentwood). They breezed by the Independence Tigers at home to the tune of 56-6 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Kentwood found their leader in underclassman Ahmade Bickham Jr, who rushed for 110 yards on only six carries, and also threw for 63 yards and a touchdown. Alonzo Ard was another key player, throwing for 73 yards and two touchdowns.

Kentwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Johnathan Bagnet, Jamarrious Campbell, Jermaine Brown, and Chance Briggs picked up one apiece. Lamikal Callahan was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making eight total tackles (4.0 for loss).

The victory made it two in a row for Kentwood and bumps their season record up to 5-2. As for Independence, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Kentwood will head out to challenge Southern Lab at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kentwood is facing Southern Lab at the right time seeing as Southern Lab is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Independence, a feisty cat fight will be fought when Tigers takes on Pope John Paul II at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
