Softball Recap: KIPP San Jose Collegiate Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Latino College Preparatory Academy, KIPP San Jose Collegiate was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions as they made off with a 25-2 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolfpack also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Aliyana Amezcua made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Amezcua was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alicia Espino, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those home runs marked the first that she has launched this season. Dulcemaria Monroy was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

KIPP San Jose Collegiate lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

KIPP San Jose Collegiate's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

KIPP San Jose Collegiate wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-6 loss against Design Tech on the 25th. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-8 defeat against Summit Shasta on the 25th.
