Softball Game Preview: Hollins Royals vs. Indian Rocks Christian Eagles

The Hollins Royals will square off against the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hollins will be strutting in after a victory while Indian Rocks Christian will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, it was close, but Hollins sidestepped St. Petersburg for an 11-10 win.

Shayla Query spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and nine unearned) runs on 13 hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Paige Westerfield, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Ava Vargas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases.

Meanwhile, Indian Rocks Christian came up short against Boca Ciega on Thursday, falling 21-5.

Hollins' victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Indian Rocks Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
