Volleyball Recap: Rock Island Takes a Loss

Rock Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Washington Panthers. If the Rocks were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Panthers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Rock Island ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Rock Island saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ava Carlson had five kills and five digs.

Rock Island's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Washington, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Rock Island has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Quincy on the 4th. As for Washington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Breese Central on the 5th.
