Basketball Game Preview: Ballantyne Ridge Wolves vs. Central Eagles

The Ballantyne Ridge Wolves will face off against the Central Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Ballantyne Ridge has now lost 14 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 4.

Ballantyne Ridge is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Myers Park on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ballantyne Ridge had to suffer through a 72-30 loss at the hands of Myers Park. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 546th, while the Mustangs are ranked 155th).

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Central beat York Prep 71-66 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Central is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Ballantyne Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.

Ballantyne Ridge might still be hurting after the 64-41 defeat they got from Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Ballantyne Ridge was down 38-12.
