Basketball Recap: Middleburg Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Clay came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Middleburg, but Aiyana Haynes wouldn't allow it. The Middleburg Broncos strolled past the Clay Blue Devils with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 46-27 thanks in part to Haynes, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

Clay lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Annnaliese Hovda, who posted seven points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hailie Miera, who put up three points in addition to 11 rebounds and three steals.

Middleburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.8 points per game. As for Clay, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Middleburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 48-22 win against Duval Charter on the 13th. As for Clay, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-14 defeat against Florida School for the Deaf & Blind on the 13th.
