Basketball Recap: Thornton Comes Up Short

Thornton played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Curie Condors, falling 63-28. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Condors are ranked 34th).

Despite the loss, Thornton still got an impressive performance from Jordan Maple, who went 5 of 10 en route to 10 points and six boards. That's the most rebounds Maple has posted since back in November of 2024.

Thornton's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Curie, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thornton will welcome Kankakee at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Curie, they and Simeon will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Curie's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
