Baseball Recap: Orion Chargers vs. Mercer County Golden Eagles

Orion blew Mercer County out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Mercer County got their revenge. The Chargers fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 3-1. That makes it the first time this season the Chargers have let down their home crowd.

Maddux Anderson put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 16 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Anderson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Orion's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mercer County, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orion will host Newman Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Comets will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mercer County, they will be playing at home against Erie-Prophetstown at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
