Softball Recap: Hopewell Comes Up Short

Hopewell and Independence squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Hopewell had to settle for second. They lost 9-2 to the Patriots. If the Titans were looking for revenge after losing 21-0 to the Patriots when the teams met back in March of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ellie Wicks was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Hopewell's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Independence, the win (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 23-2.

Hopewell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Independence, they will square off against Reagan on Friday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
