Softball Recap: Santa Fe Christian Takes a Loss

Santa Fe Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Tri-City Christian on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Tri-City Christian by a score of 2-1. Santa Fe Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Tri-City Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Torin Bennett spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Santa Fe Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Binnie, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

The defeat snapped Santa Fe Christian's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-6 record. As for Tri-City Christian, their record now sits at 10-3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Fe Christian will challenge Bishop's at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season. As for Tri-City Christian, they will welcome La Jolla Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Torreys have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.75 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
