Softball Game Preview: Beaver Bobcats vs. Western Beaver Golden Beavers

The Beaver Bobcats will venture away from home to face off against the Western Beaver Golden Beavers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Beaver will be strutting in after a win while Western Beaver will be coming in after a defeat.

Beaver is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Ambridge on Monday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Sami Springman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Bridget Mayo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Western Beaver was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Hampton, falling 11-1.

Beaver's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Western Beaver, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Beaver took their win against Western Beaver in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
