Palmetto took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gulliver Prep Raiders, sneaking past 7-6. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Raiders, too.
Michael Acosta looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Jack Gordon was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Sebastian Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Gulliver Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Looking ahead, Palmetto will take on Belen Jesuit in a tournament on Friday. As for Gulliver Prep, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-10 loss against Florida Christian on the 13th.
