Basketball Recap: Chatham Central Comes Up Short

Chatham Central lost against Northwood back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Chatham Central Bears came up short against the Northwood Chargers, falling 53-28. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Chargers are ranked 113th).

When it comes to explaining why Chatham Central lost, don't look at Chloe Scott. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points. What's more, Scott also posted a 57% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in February of 2024.

Northwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaylah Glover, who had 11 points and seven rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Glover now owns an excellent 45.2% shooting accuracy. Madelyn Brooks also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Chatham Central and nudges their season record down to 12-8. As for Northwood, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatham Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Jordan-Matthews at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northwood, they will challenge Carrboro at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
