Basketball Game Preview: Taft Greyhounds vs. Poth Pirates

The Taft Greyhounds will take on the Poth Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Taft is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They beat Lyford by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 57-54. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Greyhounds.

Meanwhile, Poth entered their tilt with Great Hearts Northern Oaks on Saturday with eight consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with nine. They strolled past the Griffins with points to spare, taking the game 64-50.

Taft's victory bumped their record up to 19-16. As for Poth, their win bumped their record up to 20-11.

Taft took a serious blow against Poth when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 88-31. Can Taft avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
