Basketball Recap: Kenzie Lassiter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Paxton over Jay + How To Watch

After flying high against Pensacola Christian Academy last Monday, Paxton came back down to earth. The Bobcats took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jay Royals on Tuesday. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Paxton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenzie Lassiter, who shot 71% from the field on her way to 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Lassiter also put up two blocks, which were her first of the season. Kenna Cook was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 14 points.

Aubreigh Nelson produced another solid effort putting up 23 points in addition to seven boards and four steals for Jay. That's the most points Nelson has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Gilbreath, who earned 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Paxton fell to 4-1. As for Jay, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Paxton will host Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Jay, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-25 win against Baker on the 4th.
