Baseball Game Preview: Romulus Eagles vs. Annapolis Cougars

The Romulus Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Annapolis Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Wednesday. Romulus blew past Thurston 16-2. The game was the first time Romulus has beaten Thurston on their field since May 3, 2017.

Meanwhile, Annapolis can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Crestwood with a sharp 15-5 victory. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mason Barc made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, James Harris was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gael Martinez, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Annapolis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Romulus back to even at 2-2. As for Annapolis, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-6.

Romulus suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Annapolis when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
