Softball Recap: Florin Takes a Loss

Florin extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-13 in the process. They came up short against the Foothill Mustangs, falling 20-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-9 back in April.

As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 10-8. Considering they have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Foothill's part, Mercede Averett was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Averett has posted since back in March. Sofia Monroe was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double.

Coincidentally, Florin and Foothill will both be playing Armijo the next time they take the field. The Panthers will host the Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Mustangs will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
