Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Side). Everything went their way against the Bishop Canevin Crusaders on Monday as they made off with a 21-0 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Maya Ringhoff was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, seven RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, South Side got a massive performance out of Ariel Poelcher, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Raegann Tate, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
South Side always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
With the win, South Side broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6. As for Bishop Canevin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Coming up, South Side will square off against Mohawk Area at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bishop Canevin, they will challenge Union Area at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scotties have averaged an impressive 12.9 runs per game this season.
