Softball Recap: Weed Cougars vs. Mt. Shasta Bears
Weed was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mt. Shasta Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-3 on Wednesday.
Paige Jauregui and Maci Phillips did some serious damage despite the final result: Jauregui scored two runs while getting on base in four of her seven plate appearances, while Phillips went 2-for-5 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddie LaDue, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI.
Weed's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13-1. As for Mt. Shasta, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5-1.
